The role

The Simulator & PC Technician is primarily responsible for providing in-person and telephone support, while repairing and maintaining ATP’s airplane flight simulators, computers, and other PC peripherals

Responsibilities

  • Functions as key point of contact between ATP’s staff, flight instructors and students, handling daily simulator maintenance and technical support. Primarily provides support to devices and training centers in the Dallas, Texas area.
  • Perform daily operational inspections on simulators and deploy preventative and reactive repairs or maintenance as needed and scheduled.
  • Performs monthly automatic Qualification Test Guides (QTGs) and maintains compliance on designated training devices.
  • Reads technical manuals, instructions, and operational information to properly engage in the repair of equipment and/or training. Performs troubleshooting to isolate computational mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
  • Provides training and technical instruction on the use of various simulators and PC devices.
  • Provides telephone and in-person support for installation and repair of flight simulation devices.
  • Travels to Training Centers to coordinate installation, repair and relocation of computer devices, flight simulation devices, and associated hardware and software.
  • Follows up on and makes calls or sends emails to ensure all ATP staff, instructors, and students have adequate and functional Simulator, PC and network resources.
  • Installs and maintains printers and other PC peripherals.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with emphasis or classwork in PC, and/or simulator technologies or equivalent relevant work experience in the technical support or aviation industry required.
  • Two (2) years related experience in computer technology or technical support roles. Prefer aviation industry simulator operations or aviation technical operations experience.
  • Experience with performing basic mechanical maintenance utilizing hand tools on equipment. Aviation maintenance experience preferred. Soldering experience is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Operating System software required. Microsoft Office experience preferred. Network experience is a plus.
  • 10% to 15% travel required.
